How does massage contribute to a better pregnancy & birth experience?
Pre-natal/Pregnancy massage therapy offers a wide range of benefits to the expectant mother and her baby. According to a study conducted by the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine, women receiving 20 minute sessions of back massage twice a week for five weeks experienced reduced anxiety, improved mood, better sleep and less back pain. This study also found that the women had decreased levels of stress hormones and fewer complications during labor. Additionally, their infants had less postnatal complications (e.g., less prematurity).

What to Expect
Before your massage, we will discuss your desired outcomes and anything else you’d like me to address. During your massage, you will be “nested” on your side, supported by special pillows and wedges. These pillows and wedges will support your belly and legs which will prevent undue pressure on your hips. It is my goal to ensure that you are comfortable, relaxed and know that this is YOUR time. All of this will assist in alleviating any stress from your mind and body.
